When the woodwork team at St Aloysius College Cronulla contacted Noxx Industries, they weren’t looking for a dramatic overhaul. They simply wanted to stop losing valuable class time at the start of each lesson locating tools and organising students.
It’s a familiar challenge in TAS rooms across Australia. The benches are well-built, the tools are high quality, but without a clear system for display and management, lessons begin with confusion instead of momentum.
The Challenge
Following an on-site assessment in January, the head of TAS outlined these requirements:
- A front-of-room board to clearly display tools for each lesson
- A secondary board in the storeroom to manage the broader inventory, including specialised equipment reserved for senior students
- Both installations needed to be fully customised to the room layout, available wall space, and existing tool collection. Nothing off the shelf.
The Solution
Custom tool boards were designed and installed to suit the school’s workflow and teaching style.

The front-of-room board, positioned beside the whiteboard, allows teachers to visually communicate required tools before work begins. Students immediately understand what they need, and pack-up becomes more structured when every tool has a defined place.

A board in the storeroom provides controlled access to additional equipment. Staff can introduce tools progressively based on year level and skill development, improving both safety and lesson planning efficiency.
Tools related to the Lathe Router and the Drill Press were relocated to boards beside the machines for quick access and straightforward, logical placement. This makes it easier to see what's missing and what's available for use.
The Results
The improvement was practical and immediate. Lessons now start faster, pack-up is more consistent, and teachers spend less time managing equipment and more time teaching. Students develop stronger habits around organisation and accountability, while staff maintain clearer control over tool use across year levels. So positive were the results, that the school requested the same process to be repeated in the next classroom.
Not a dramatic transformation — just a woodwork room operating the way it should.
Noxx Industries designs and installs custom tool boards and woodwork bench accessories tailored to each school’s space, tools, and teaching approach.
