One recent success story comes from St Aloysius College in Cronulla, where we were engaged to support their woodwork teaching space with a custom tool board setup designed to simplify lessons and boost classroom organisation.
The Challenge
The college’s woodwork room was well-equipped with quality woodwork benches, but lacked an efficient way to manage tools during lessons. Tools were often stored out of sight or in generic cupboards, leading to wasted time locating the right equipment and increased risks of disorganisation. The staff were particularly eager to find a solution that would allow them to easily display tools in a way that supported both safety and structure for students of all year levels.
The Solution
In January, our team installed custom tool boards tailored to the school’s layout and daily classroom needs. The main display board was mounted beside the whiteboard at the front of the TAS Room—giving teachers the ability to clearly indicate which tools students would be using in each project. This simple change made a big impact, allowing visual communication that reinforced routine and accountability.
We also installed a second tool board in the adjacent storeroom. This system gave the staff the flexibility to swap out specific tools depending on the year group or skill level. It also allowed more dangerous or specialised tools to be stored securely and introduced gradually, aligning with lesson plans and safety protocols.
The Results
The transformation was immediate. Students could now see exactly where tools belonged, reducing clutter and improving their responsibility for packing up. Teachers reported faster lesson transitions, less downtime, and a noticeable improvement in classroom management.
